Review: You Belong With Me by Tari Faris

Title: You Belong With Me
Author: Tari Faris
Series: Restoring Heritage Book 1
Publication Date: September 2019
Length: 331 pages

Realtor Hannah Thornton has many talents.
Unfortunately, selling houses isn't one of them.

When a business tycoon determines to raze historic homes in the small town of Heritage, Michigan, and replace them with a strip mall, Hannah resolves to stop him. She sets about helping Heritage win a restoration grant that will put the town back on the map--and hopefully restore her disgraced family name. But she'll need help to do it.

As a foster kid, Luke Johnson never truly felt he belonged. Now he has a chance to earn his place in his hometown. But he doesn't anticipate how his relationship with Hannah will set into motion events that reveal the truth about who he is--and who he was.

This book was well-written, had great supporting characters, and made some nice spiritual points. That being said, this book was just okay for me.

I didn't connect with Hannah. I didn't like that she was sneaking around in Luke's house and deceiving him, even if she thought she was doing it for the right reasons. The relationship between Hannah and Luke didn't seem quite right to me, either.

I loved Janie and Thomas's story! I could feel Janie's heartache - my stomach was in knots for her. I felt like Thomas worked through his issues and we could see him grow. I can't wait to see what's in store in their future!

I also really liked Pastor Nate. I'm thinking if I had read the prequel novella, I would have a better understanding of what is going on (or not going on) with Olivia and Nate. Even so, I am looking forward to future books in the series to see what his story ends up being.

If you like contemporary Christian fiction, I recommend this book.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
