First Line Friday - August 23, 2019

Welcome to First Line Friday hosted by Hoarding Books

My first line today comes from An Informal Affair by Heather Gray. This book revolves around on-line dating and has made me chuckle more than once. I tried on-line dating for a year or two and the stories I could tell! One of the best is a dinner where my "date" picked something out of his teeth, flung it under the table and it landed on my leg. I'll save my second best story for my review of this book so be sure to check back! :)

"Lia Promise stared at the man across the table from her. This couldn't be happening. He reached for his fork, pried one of the tines wide, and used it to scratch the inside of his ear."

I felt like I needed to share more than the first line for the full effect. I would have preferred this scenario to the one I experienced!

Now it's your turn! Share the first line of the book closest to you in the comments below, then head over to Hoarding Books to see who else is sharing first lines on their blogs today.
