First Line Friday: June 21, 2019

Welcome to First Line Friday hosted by Hoarding Books! I'm trying to get through my "to be read" stack this summer and this book is near the top. I received this book as a Christmas gift and was so excited to learn that there is a cat as part of the story! This is a new to me author. Have you read anything by Regina Scott before?

"Becoming a governess was harder than fighting off Napoleon."

Now it's your turn! Share the first line of the book closest to you in the comments below, then head over to Hoarding Books to see who else is sharing first lines on their blogs today.

  1. Great cover!

I shared from Amanda Barratt's My Dearest Dietrich on my blog. Here is the first line from Outbreak by Davis Bunn -- "Avery Madison was awakened at eleven minutes past midnight by a most unexpected call."

Today on my blog I shared the first line from The Express Bride by Kimberley Woodhouse but I'm just getting into Yours Truly, Thomas by Rachel Fordham so I'll share the first line from that book here: "After letting an involuntary squeal escape, Penny pulled the yellow papers closer and pressed her lips to them." Hope you have a wonderful weekend with plenty of reading time!

  7. No, I haven't read any Regina Scott stories, but the cat and the first line have definitely got me intrigued.

Today I’m sharing from Entanglements by Rachel McMillan on my blog, one of the novellas in Finding Ever After. Here’s the first line from the next story in the collection, Twice Upon a Time by Ashley Clark:

“Under no circumstances would she fall for him again.”
