My Thoughts

I LOVED THIS BOOK! I've read it from cover to cover twice and am continuing to use it in my quiet times by reviewing a highlighted section each day. I struggle with fear of health and medical issues. It's an irrational fear and it can take over my life if I'm not very careful so when I heard about this book, I was quick to purchase it. Sadie starts out by explaining how she had a fear of weather related events and would watch the Weather Channel A LOT. I was pretty much hanging on every word after I read that because that's how I am with medical issues. I can accurately diagnose people when they tell me their symptoms because I've spent so much time on medical web-sites!

Sadie writes about a fear in her life in each chapter. She then goes on to describe how she overcame that fear. Each chapter contains a question to ask yourself about fear and a challenge which is essentially a tool to help you overcome that fear. Each chapter also contains a sample prayer to help you overcome your fear.

This book probably targets high school, college age, and young adults, however I'm in my forties and found it very helpful. If you struggle with fear of any sort, I cannot recommend this book enough!

I Was Inspired

I was inspired by so much of the book, but to name a couple of particular points...

Sadie says that her mom "doesn't have a fear chip in her wiring". I want to get to that point! And I should, with God on my side. It will definitely take prayer and work, but I'm going to continue trying.

Another point I appreciated was the reminder that overcoming fear might be a process, not something that happens in an instant. Sadie stresses that she continues to make choices and direct her thoughts in a direction to choose to be fearless. That's something I can aspire to, too.
