She won the job… Can he win her heart?
Hiring Amanda “AJ” McAlester as his assistant at the Big Heart Ranch isn’t foreman Travis Maxwell’s first choice—but his sisters insist she’s perfect for the job. And AJ’s determined to prove she’s just as qualified as any man. But with money on the line, AJ and her innovative ideas could put him at risk of losing everything…including his heart.
I really enjoyed this book! I am a fan of the Love Inspired line and this book was no exception. I loved the romantic dynamics between Travis and AJ and I enjoyed the family dynamics between Travis and his sisters.
I liked the opening scene where Travis's sisters were pushing to hire a female assistant foreman. I liked watching Travis's pre-conceived notions about that female foreman turn to admiration and respect. I also liked that this book was set on a ranch which is run to help children of abuse, abandonment, and neglect rather than just a normal ranch setting.
The romantic tension between Travis and AJ was great! I liked that AJ held her ground and was true to herself and that Travis came to appreciate those things about her. It was so fun to see when the realization hit both Travis and AJ that they had feelings for each other. I liked that the ranch employees liked AJ and had her back. At one point one of the employees said to AJ "I am certain that there is a man out there who will appreciate you for who you are, inside and out." I LOVE that line! Someone once told me that same thing when I had a boyfriend who was critical of a quality that is integral to who I am. Ironically, that is one of the qualities that my husband finds most attractive about me.
This is the second book in the Big Heart Ranch series but can easily be read as a stand alone novel. I am looking forward to the next book in the series! If you like contemporary Christian fiction, I highly recommend this book!
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. I was not required to write a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I WAS INSPIRED
I liked that this book had a theme of letting God love you for who you are. Travis felt like he had to earn people's approval and was concerned with what others thought of him and AJ continually challenged that notion. I was reminded that we only need to be concerned with doing what's right in God's eyes.
