I am so excited to be starting Memorable Mondays on the blog today! This idea was created by Becca from The Becca Files. I'm excitedly waving to Becca through cyber-space! 🙋 Like Becca, I've been a blogger for only a short time, but I've been a reader for a long time so I have lots of books to recommend! I am excited that Becca created this meme which makes it easy to recommend and highlight some older, memorable books!
The first book I want to highlight is Secrets by Robin Jones Gunn.
Why It's Memorable
This is one of my all time favorite books! It's the first book in The Glenbrooke Series which contains more books on my all time favorites list. I still remember buying this at the local Christian bookstore when I was in college. It was near the end of the school year and when I started reading it, I couldn't stop. I have reread it numerous times and I was really inspired by this book.
I was inspired by Jessica, the main character, who writes out Bible verses on index cards and puts them all around where she can see them. I started doing that, too, after I read this book about twenty years ago, and I still do it today! I have a picture frame on the desk where I have my quiet times and I put whatever verse I am currently focusing on in that frame. I also got a pretty recipe box to keep all of my Bible verse index cards in. This is all thanks to reading Secrets!
From the Back of the Book
Seeking a new life as an English teacher in a peaceful Oregon town, Jessica tries desperately to conceal the details of her identity from the community...including the compassionate paramedic who desires to protect her and the jealous woman who wants nothing more than to destroy her.
Will Jessica's lies ruin all hope for the future? Or can she find a deeper peace that will keep her from hiding Secrets from those who love her most of all?
