Memorable Monday - November 12, 2018

It's Memorable Monday! This idea was created by Becca from The Becca Files to highlight books that we've read in the past and are memorable to us.

This book came to mind last week after reading one of Becca's blog posts about books that are "heartbreakers". I remember reading Karen Kingsbury's Even Now which a friend had loaned me and my husband telling me that he didn't think it was a good idea for me to read any more books from that friend because I cried so much while reading this one!

About the Book

Sometimes hope for the future is found in the ashes of yesterday.

Shane Galantera man ready to put down roots after years of searching. But is he making the right choice? Or is there a woman somewhere who even now remembers as does he those long-ago days . . . and a love that hasn't faded with time?

Lauren Gibbs a successful international war correspondent who gave up on happily-ever-after years ago when it was ripped away from her. Since then, shes never looked back. So how come she cant put to rest the one question that haunts her: Why is life so empty?

Emily Anderson a college freshman raised by her grandparents, and about to take her first internship as a journalist. But before she can move ahead, she discovers a love story whose tragic ending came with her birth. As a result, she is drawn to look back and search out the mother shes never met.

A young woman seeking answers to her hearts deep questions. A man and woman separated by lies and long years. . . yet who have never forgotten each other. With hallmark tenderness and power, Karen Kingsbury weaves a tapestry of lives, losses, love, and faith and the miracle of resurrection.

Now It's Your Turn!

Review: A Christmas by the Sea by Melody Carlson

Title: A Christmas by the Sea
Author: Melody Carlson
Publication Date: September 2018
Pages: 176

About the Book

"When Wendy Harper inherits her family's beachside cottage in Seaside, Maine, she sees it as a way to finally pay off the debts that have mounted since her husband died. But before it can be sold, the neglected property must be renovated. She and her 12-year-old son Jackson move in--temporarily, she reminds him--in order to do the work themselves, even though Christmas is coming. The charming town, along with local craftsman Caleb Colton, pulls on both Wendy and Jackson, who even registers himself for school in a bid to get his mom to move them there permanently. Wendy knows that the most responsible thing to do is to sell the cottage and return to Ohio, but the lure of the sea is hard to resist."

Memorable Monday - November 5, 2018

It's Memorable Monday! This idea was created by Becca from The Becca Files to highlight books that we've read in the past and are memorable to us.

A series of books that is memorable to me is the Sweet Valley High series by Francine Pascal. I LOVED reading these books as a teenager and it was so fun to loan and borrow the books with one of my friends who also read them. Double Love was the first book in the series.

About the Book

Elizabeth and Jessica Wakefield are identical twins at Sweet Valley High. They're both popular, smart, and gorgeous, but that's where the similarity ends. Elizabeth is friendly, outgoing, and sincere -- nothing like her snobbish and conniving twin. Jessica gets what she wants -- at school, with friends, and especially with boys.

This time, Jessica has set her sights on Todd Wilkins, the handsome star of the basketball team -- the one boy that Elizabeth really likes. Elizabeth doesn't want to lose him, but what Jessica wants, Jessica usually gets ... even if it ends up hurting her sister.
